Sunday sickness

20130127-210300.jpg

I write this from my deathbed.

Well that may be a slight exaggeration but I am well and truly ill. Rather than have a fun night out last night with a friend I ended up on her sofa with a blanket and cold compress whilst unable to keep anything down. Today isn’t much better and it’s the kind of flu that has reduced this 29-year-old to a quivering mess that wants her Mum.

When I was little whenever I felt like this Mum and Dad tried to cheer me up with Lucozade and new pjs. Well today I have Lucozade in every flavour you can imagine and have gone online to pick some new pjs. The number one combo was the one I eventually purchased but the rest definitely caught my eye.
I have to say Gilly Hicks is one of my favourite pj shops. I love the two slogan vests I’ve selected – both truly reflect my thoughts first thing in the morning!

Here are the deets:
1. Gilly Hicks shorts, vest and hoodie
2. Juicy Couture Cami and Short Set
3. Dirty Pretty Things Babydoll
4. Topshop Sausage Dog Tee and Short PJ
5. Gilly Hicks vest
6. John Lewis Beachball PJ Bottoms

Hat’s Your Lot

As the air has colder, there has been a significantly higher number of hats around Clapham. I always eye them with envy as I love how it easily makes the wearer look effortlessly chic. Personally I’ve been too chicken to wear anything that obvious but I think I’m ready to take the plunge!

This is the hat I’ve chosen. A little Topshop number that had me at “neon pink trim”.

Brrrrr!

I currently type this wearing a massive wooly jumper over my dress and socks over my tights. It is cold! Even though there isn’t much snow left on the ground here in London, warm it is not.

It is hard to still look stylish when you’re battling the freeze so my fail safe is always a faux fur gilet. As seen on Miss Palermo walking around New York city, it can work for a casual Sunday stroll, over a smart pair of trousers for work or even in the evening with a maxi skirt.

My beloved black faux fur gilet from Topshop isn’t available any more but here are some that are. The suede fringed gilet is definitely going on my wish list as I dream of warmer days and wearing it over summer dresses.

1. Firetrap Diva Faux Fur Gilet from New Look £84.99

2. ASOS Mongolian Fur Gilet £35.50 (in the sale – bargain!)

3. River Island Black Suede Cut Out Tassel Gilet £120

4. Muubaa Sheepskin Bronson Gilet from ASOS £175 (but it was £350 – bargain?)

WWLCD?

This is the question the little voice in my head often asks.

On Monday night Lauren Conrad revealed her new SS13 Collection for Paper Crown and here are my favourite pieces. None of it’s going to set the fashion world alight but I love the wearability of the peach peplum top and the quirky twist on classics such the bows on the striped maxi and the use of a sequin pocket. In my opinion they are solid basics that will fit perfectly into your S/S wardrobe.

Miss Selfridge SS13 Lookbook

If you could open my head and see my fashion dreams the Miss Selfridge SS13 lookbook would be it. The vintage feel from the lace and distressed denim and the contrasting use of floaty fabrics and tough footwear is right up my street.

Shot by Jackie Dixon it has a beautiful Seventies vibe which reminds me of the Kirsten Dunst film The Virgin Suicides.

I can’t wait for the full collection to hit Miss Selfridge and in the meantime I am going to have a crack at that braided up do!

Bangs Tidy

I know today was the inauguration but as far as I’m concerned the big event was Michelle’s fringe. Yes Mrs Obama you should cheer because you look bangs tidy! The 10 years it has taken off of her fringe just shows the power of a good bit of face framing. Unfortunately my round little face means my dreams of locks such as Misses Miller, Deschanel and Biel will have to remain a dream…

Ballerina fashionista

From the first time I ever slipped on my ballet shoes I have been a big fan of dance wear.

It’s not the trendiest of looks but one that’s not going anywhere soon. Here’s how I’ll be wearing it this Spring hopefully without looking like I’ve got lost en route to the barre!

2012

Well what a year! A new job and a new flat meant lots of new friends and plenty of memories. I have a feeling 2013 will be just as good.

Merry Christmas!

It’s been a beautiful day in sunny Spain. Hope you’ve had a great time.

Another year older but not much wiser…

Yesterday was my birthday. I had a great day of being completely spoilt followed by a brilliant night of cocktails and dancing at the London Cocktail Club.  Their Bramble cocktail is a delicious mix of blackberries and gin at hat comes with a custard cream and they serve up jäger bombs in oyster shells where jellied, spiced Red Bull floats in a sea of jäger. Dangerous.

It was a brilliant night of dancing on the tables all rounded off by coming home to this. A completely fitting birthday cake for a 29-year-old – non?

Anyhoo time to shake off this jäger grog and jump in a taxi. I am flying home for Christmas! Have a great time.
